2001-10-20 Tootsie

To quote the fetching peth "Too much is always better than not enough." So here we go again.

We keep a candy jar at the circulation desk. People who work here at the library bring in candy sometimes and fill the jar. It is not required, it is just nice.

This morning Theresa brought in Tootsie Rolls. Not the little ones, but the big ones that look like bricks that you have to eat in multiple bites.

Two law students came up to the desk and noticed the big Tootsie Rolls and were very pleased.

"Not the little ones like they had last week!" one of the law students enthused.

Peth said, "We have Theresa to thank for those" and gestured behind her to Theresa who was busily licking her lips and picking at a lesion on her skin.

Like 5 year olds told to thank an adult, the two law students said "thanks, Theresa." It was all sing-songy like.

Theresa looked up. "Huh?"

"Thanks, Theresa" they sang again in unison.

She looked back at her lesion. They left. There was an uncomfortable silence as her brain processed what had happened.

They were long gone. Without looking up she said, "Oh, you're welcome for that it's nothing mutter mutter mutter mutter mutter mutter unintelligible mutter."

I asked Peth if I should update and she said yes.

I ran right over.
