2001-08-09 stem cells

Tonight the Prez is gonna give a little speech about stem cell research. Everyone is just on edge to hear what he has to say. Will he permit federal funding pissing off the Pope? Will he silently smile while he gives everyone who has gone blind from Diabetes the finger? Who can tell. It is a mystery.

What is not a mystery is that he has scheduled this national address for nine P.M. This is the same time as the live broadcast of Big Brother 2. What is wrong with him? Doesn't he know that tonight is eviction night? This just makes me angry. I've just got to know if it's Kent or Will. I hope it's Kent because he's been a real bastard lately, but Will is still evil even though he's making nice.

The balance of power in the house is precariously balanced right now. The outcome of tonight's vote will strongly suggest the eventual outcome. Of course, the politics within the house have changed almost daily as the machinations of the house guests reek havok on the constantly changing and very weak alliances.

Remember the first election when Everyone was surprised to see Cheryl evicted? She was the beautiful mother figure who had been nominated by Mike in an effort to oust the outspoken Nicole. It was quite a blow to Mike and the rest of Chill Town's strategy when Nicole got to stay. She promised vengeance but has not yet been Head of Household, so she's not been able to nominate anyone. I suppose her vengeance is remaining in the house longer than Boogie who put her up for eviction.

And how about the shocking revelation that last week Nicole threw the Head of the Household competition on purpose so that she would not have to nominate Kent. She said that since everyone wanted Kent nominated on account of his bad behavior as the Head of the Household and his gradually increasing crankiness due to running out of smokes she would have to nominate him or risk turning the house against her the following week when she was the outgoing HoH and therefore immune from nomination.

All in all Bunky has surprised no one by becoming a total sheep. He has no opinion of his own and his cloying efforts to ingratiate himself to his housemates have become very annoying. It's almost painful to watch. Poor Bunky, I fear he's next on the chopping block.

My favorite recent development is Monica's increasing irritability and outspoken earthiness. During much of the first weeks, Monica blended into the background. Her position as a motivational speaker having a positive effect on not only her outlook, but the outlook of others in the house she was encouraging. Now, she's breaking. She's not silently accepting the bad behavior of others anymore. No Sir! Now she's as likely to scream obsenities while begging the Lord's forgiveness for her blasphemy as she is to wag her finger threateningly in the face of the wormy Bunky or overbearing Kent.

Monica is a study in the downward spiral of the human condition and stands as an example of the appeal of the reality series genre. It's really amazing. As she becomes less and less herself we see more and more the real Monica. It's a thought provoking paradox.

So here's the deal. The Prez just better watch it cause if Big Brother gets preempted instead of delayed, well there's one vote he's lost three and a half years from now. Stem cell, Schtem cells. I just wanna see Hardy and Christa get it on.
