" On October 18, 2001 at approximately 12:45pm the Rutgers University Police Department responded to a call from Armitage Hall where a small plastic bag containing a white powdery substance was found outside a third floor office.

In accordance with the protocol issued by the Camden County Prosecutor's Office a preliminary investigation was conducted by the RUPD. No legitimate purpose for the bag and its contents having been placed at its aforementioned location was ascertained. The area was secured and the ventilation system was turned off. Contact information for persons in the immediate area was obtained.

Responding agencies, in addition to RUPD, were the Camden City Fire Department, Camden City Office of Emergency Management, Camden County Health Department, and the Camden County HAZMAT.

The plastic bag containing the suspicious substance was properly packaged and taken to a New Jersey State Police laboratory in West Trenton for testing. The area was properly decontaminated by the County HAZMAT Team."
